Days filled with kids

Are also filled<\/p>\n

With laundry<\/p>\n

Dishes<\/p>\n

And dirty floors<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Playtime and bedtime<\/p>\n

Seem like the best time<\/p>\n

To get things done<\/p>\n

Kids are occupied<\/p>\n

And I can work<\/p>\n

Uninterrupted<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But today,\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Though the baby<\/p>\n

was happy<\/p>\n

And the older kids<\/p>\n

were playing<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t get up<\/p>\n

And rush around<\/p>\n

To clean and accomplish<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instead, I relax<\/em><\/p>\n

Cuddling the baby<\/p>\n

Who won\u2019t always be a baby<\/p>\n

Watching his siblings<\/p>\n

Who are growing<\/p>\n

Too fast<\/p>\n

But whose voices<\/p>\n

still ring<\/p>\n

With the sweetness<\/p>\n

Of youth<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Their laughter<\/p>\n

And squeals<\/p>\n

Echo through our small house<\/p>\n

And reverberate in my heart<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I feel a little rebellious<\/p>\n

Not worrying<\/p>\n

About being efficient<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But a stronger<\/p>\n

Sparkly feeling<\/p>\n

Of joy<\/p>\n

Fills my insides<\/p>\n

And wraps<\/p>\n

Around my whole being<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am reluctant<\/em><\/p>\n

To miss the moment<\/em><\/p>\n

Doing something so mundane<\/p>\n

As laundry<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So I don\u2019t<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I sit<\/em><\/p>\n

And listen<\/p>\n

And laugh<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Homework questions<\/p>\n

Ridiculous stories<\/p>\n

Made up songs<\/p>\n

About best friends<\/p>\n

Dresses<\/p>\n

Barbies<\/p>\n

And the American flag<\/p>\n

Are par<\/p>\n

For the course<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What can I say<\/p>\n

We are<\/p>\n

Equal opportunity artists<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I let the baby \u201cstay up\u201d<\/p>\n

While we eat dinner<\/p>\n

Together<\/p>\n

A rare event<\/p>\n

With a small baby<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We listen<\/p>\n

Eat great food<\/p>\n

And watch DGirl<\/p>\n

Take bites<\/p>\n

In between headstands<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t worry<\/p>\n

About her tablemanners<\/p>\n

For once<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is freeing<\/p>\n

And a little<\/p>\n

Like living<\/p>\n

At the circus<\/p>\n

Fun<\/p>\n

And<\/p>\n

A bit crazy<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After dinner<\/p>\n

Business<\/p>\n

As usual<\/p>\n

Commences<\/p>\n

Showers<\/p>\n

Storytime<\/p>\n

Snuggling<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I love the scent<\/p>\n

The feel<\/p>\n

The sound<\/p>\n

Of my family<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So I didn\u2019t get<\/p>\n

All the laundry done<\/p>\n

Today<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It will still be there<\/p>\n

Tomorrow<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I love my life<\/em><\/p>\n

Laundry<\/p>\n

And<\/p>\n

All<\/p>\n
