Sick children<\/p>\n

Homes foreclosed<\/p>\n

Loved ones dead<\/p>\n

Jobs gone<\/p>\n

Trust violated<\/p>\n

Bodies crippled<\/p>\n

The changes come<\/p>\n

As rapidly as<\/p>\n

The monsoon<\/p>\n

In July<\/p>\n

The wind whipping<\/p>\n

The breath<\/p>\n

From your lungs<\/p>\n

The scream<\/p>\n

From your throat<\/p>\n

The thunder shaking<\/p>\n

The foundation<\/p>\n

Of everything<\/p>\n

That seemed sacred<\/p>\n

And safe<\/p>\n

You lose<\/p>\n

Your footing<\/p>\n

Like an<\/p>\n

Uprooted tree<\/p>\n

The rain<\/p>\n

Pours down in sheets<\/p>\n

All over your head<\/p>\n

None of you<\/p>\n

Is untouched<\/p>\n

By its power<\/p>\n

A surprising moment<\/p>\n

Of chill touches you<\/p>\n

As the icy grip<\/p>\n

Of FEAR<\/p>\n

Wraps around\u00a0Your heart<\/p>\n

Like a vice<\/p>\n

What will happen<\/p>\n

Next<\/p>\n

You wonder<\/p>\n

If anything<\/p>\n

Will ever be the same<\/p>\n

Once the storm stops<\/p>\n

All is blown<\/p>\n

And soaked<\/p>\n

And ruined<\/p>\n

But such is LIFE<\/p>\n

Unpredictable<\/p>\n

Wild<\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

Your OWN<\/p>\n

Though it is<\/p>\n

Nothing<\/p>\n

Like you imagined<\/p>\n

It can be<\/p>\n

Even more<\/p>\n

Than you dreamed<\/p>\n

If you look<\/p>\n

For the beauty<\/p>\n

and the healing<\/p>\n

The storm<\/p>\n

Brings<\/p>\n

In the spaces<\/p>\n

Between<\/p>\n

The wildness<\/p>\n

If you stop<\/p>\n

To catch<\/p>\n

That breath<\/p>\n

You thought<\/p>\n

Had escaped you<\/p>\n

And notice<\/p>\n

The gifts<\/p>\n

That the storm<\/p>\n

Imparts<\/p>\n

And the life<\/p>\n

That continued<\/p>\n

In spite of it<\/p>\n

The full moon<\/p>\n

Framed by majestic<\/p>\n

Clouds<\/p>\n

The scent<\/p>\n

of rain<\/p>\n

and creosote<\/p>\n

The space left<\/p>\n

For something new<\/p>\n

to grow<\/p>\n

where the uprooting<\/p>\n

happened<\/p>\n

Look around<\/p>\n

If you purpose<\/p>\n

To find the beauty<\/p>\n

and the healing<\/p>\n

The storm brings<\/p>\n

In the spaces<\/p>\n

Between the wildness<\/p>\n

You will find your heart<\/p>\n

And your thoughts<\/p>\n

filled with gratitude<\/p>\n

A prayer of thanks<\/p>\n

Because Life<\/p>\n

Is nothing<\/p>\n

Like you imagined<\/p>\n

But<\/p>\n

So much better<\/p>\n

Than you dreamed<\/p>\n
